Eulogies Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks following the shocking loss of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt ready to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can at last articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the production, commenting that he could not remember "any day without joy".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
This week, a Los Angeles judge ruled to prevent the disclosure of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A court order put a security hold on the investigation to limit the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" connected to the probe.
The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a record noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
